Pamplona Alta Project Successfully Completed!

During this time, the visiting volunteers, along with Healing Hearts -- Peru, accomplished the following projects:


1)    Construction of a new community center building (Asentamiento Humano) measuring 16’ x 20’ in the Villa San Juan district of Pamplona Alta shanty town.

a)    Distribution of bread to the residents of Villa San Juan

b)    Interaction with the children and residents of Villa San Juan

c)     Presentation of presents to the children of Villa San Juan

d)    Workshops and art projects with the kindergarten children (ages 4-5) of Villa San Juan, along with presentation of presents.


2)    Visit to the Hogar Santa Teresita del Niño Jesús, home for orphans, abandoned babies, and teenage rape victims.

a)     Presentation of presents and needed household items, food, and clothing.

b)     Interaction with the children.

    c)     Surveying of the needs for repair/construction of playground equipment.


3)    Visit to Ciudad de los Niños orphanage.

a)    Interaction with a group of 30 orphan boys.

b)    Workshops and art projects, along with distribution of presents.


4)    Construction of a room at the Healing Hearts -- Peru resident offices.


5)    Visit to Villa El Salvador shanty town to assess the needs of a new soup kitchen (comedor) that feeds daily up to 600 people.

a)    Interaction with a group of 30 local children from the area, along with distribution of gifts.

b)    The general consensus was that this project would need to be enacted on a future follow-up visit, pending the procurement of the necessary funding.


       We want to thank all the volunteers for a job well done! Their tireless work and unselfish giving bettered the lives of hundreds of people much less fortunate than ourselves. We look forward to greater participation and collaboration in the future.
